Job Description

 

The University of Missouri – St. Louis, a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, is accepting applications for the position of an Assistant Athletic Trainer.  This is a 12-month full time benefited position. 


General Summary: In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, administer the progress and success of the sports medicine program within the guidelines of the NCAA Division II, the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and the University of Missouri – St. Louis.  


Summary of Responsibilities: Application

  • Support the Head Athletic Trainer and Health Care Team 
  • Provide medical coverage for men’s and women’s athletic teams. 
  • Provide prevention, evaluation, care, and rehabilitation services to student-athletes.
  • Knowledge of concussion testing and evaluation along with medical record keeping.
  •  Coordinate and transportation of student-athletes to and from physician’s appointments. 
  • Maintain and document medical records and assist with coordination of insurance information. 
  • Collaborate with the strength and conditioning staff in developing performance and wellness programing. 
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of student welfare and a high standard of quality of care.
  • Review, evaluate and make recommendations to the Head Athletic Trainer as they relate to policies, procedures, and health care issues. 
  • Assist in other administrative responsibilities or projects as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree, 
Licensure by Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts is required.
 

Preferred Qualifications

 
  • Master’s degree preferred.  
  • NATA Certified and eligible for licensure in the state of Missouri
  • 2+ years of Collegiate Athletic Medicine.   
  • Additional certifications needed are CPR and AED. 
  • Possess advanced soft tissue and manual therapy skill set, advanced rehabilitation and reconditioning experience and expertise.  
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and procedures is required.
  • A minimum of two years of successful coaching and recruiting is preferred in a collegiate setting.  
  • Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills are required, as well as a strong knowledge of current teaching techniques in the sport of track and field.  
  • Experience as a successful student athlete or coach in track and field.   
     

Anticipated Hiring Range

 

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $51,880 Annual
Grade: GGS-9E
