Job Description

 

University of Missouri - St. Louis, a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Track and Field Coach.   This position is a 12-month, full time position with benefits.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting, providing technical expertise, and managing the track and field program within the guidelines of the NCAA Division II level, conference and institution.  

Primary responsibilities will include:
• Coaching and development of jumpers (Long Jump, Triple Jump and High Jump)
• Assisting in the development of the sprint and relay events (60M, 100M, 200M, 400M, 4x100M, and 4x400M).

Specific Duties will include:
• Developing and implementing comprehensive training programs for jumping events, focusing on skill development, strength, conditioning and injury prevention. 
• Planning and overseeing all jump practices. 
• Collaborating with other track and field coaches and staff to coordinate training schedules, competition strategies and team events. 
• Recruiting and evaluating prospective student-athletes to the University of Missouri – St. Louis and the track and field program. 
• Monitoring academic progress and personnel development of student-athletes, promoting a culture of academic excellence and personal growth. 
• Performing other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Head Track and Field Coach.

Minimum Qualifications

 

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

 

*   Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and experience as a successful student athlete or coach in track and field.   
*   Masters degree preferred.   A minimum of two years of successful coaching and recruiting is preferred in a collegiate setting.  Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills are required, as well as a strong knowledge of current teaching techniques in the sport of track and field.  

 

Anticipated Hiring Range

 

Pay commensurate with education and experience.

Salary Range: Pay commensurate with education and experience.
