Job Description

 

The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is seeking a strategic and trusted advisor to support its inclusive and dynamic culture and workforce, and to pursue continuous improvement through knowledge, collaboration, and leadership. Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Human Resources, the Assistant Athletics Director of People and Culture will play an integral role in the overall success of the University of Missouri Athletics Department.

 

Specific Job Responsibilities will include:

 

People and Culture (33%):

Championing employee relations and serving as a culture advocate for the department.

Create activities and events to promote departmental cohesion and camaraderie and leading efforts to improve employee attraction and retention.

Managing employee communication and recognition initiatives such as Employee of the Month recognitions.

Creating a weekly employee newsletter in order to inform employees of current happenings and highlight positive employee impacts.

Providing timely and consistent communication regarding key personnel topics.

Managing and coordinating work in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion and employee well-being.

Facilitate clear and consistent staff communications.

 

Professional Development (33%):

Identifying training needs, coordinating employee development programs and supporting continuous learning initiatives.

Managing current departmental professional development events, including the “Earn-your-Stripes” program.

Develop and implement new professional development initiatives to promote career progression.

Partnering with senior leadership team members to provide guidance on employe career development, succession planning, retention programs, performance management and leadership development.


Human Resources (33%): 

Assisting hiring managers in departmental recruitment and staffing, including creating and maintaining job postings within budget and university staffing guidelines.

Preparation and submission of offer letters and processing of new hire paperwork.

Oversee the onboarding of new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.

Performing timely exit interviews and analyzing to identify trends.

Conducting wage comparison surveys within NCAA, SEC, and peer conferences and assisting coaches and administrators with the data.

Working with camp directors and supervisors to assure timely hiring and onboarding of part-time, student, and graduate assistant hires.

Working closely with university shared services and payroll to respond to employee requests and to resolve employee issues.

Ensuring uniform and equitable application of the organization's HR policies and procedure.

Maintaining a strong understanding of current university policies and procedures in order to provide a high level of customer service when responding to employee inquiries.



 

Shift

 

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required. 

Minimum Qualifications

 

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Prior experience in NCAA Athletics.

Anticipated Hiring Range

 

Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with education and experience

Grade: GGS-MKT
